Thank you for your interest in supporting The Essentials Fund! The third annual fundraising campaign kicked off on March 20th, the first day of spring!

The goal of The Essentials Fund is two-fold – to raise much needed funds to support Waterloo Region non-profits, as well as to raise awareness that organizations need this support in the form of a flexible, unrestricted grant to be used for their clients’ essential needs. These essential items could include basic toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste), bus tickets for medical appointments, backpacks to store their possessions, proper clothing and footwear for the season, diapers, and menstrual products. Through an application process in the summer, grants will be disbursed annually to organizations in accordance with WRCF’s rules and guidelines.

Donors will receive updates from The Essentials Fund, including information about this year’s distribution of grants and a year-end report on the impact of their donation. Launched in 2022, to date, The Essentials Fund has provided over $77,000 to 22 local organizations in Waterloo Region.
