Anselma House Endowment Fund
For over 40 years, Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region has provided safe haven for women and children experiencing domestic violence. With rates of domestic violence increasing by 30% during the pandemic, our services are needed now more than ever.
We operate two emergency shelters, transitional housing and regional outreach services available to clients in all cities and townships of Waterloo Region. We assess risk, help clients develop safety plans, navigate the legal system, and find safe, affordable housing. We also run a variety of programs focused on supporting the mental, physical, and emotional health of our shelter residents and outreach clients. Within our shelters, we have a nurse practitioner available. We offer individual and group counseling, access to a clinical psychologist, music therapy programming, and much more. It is important to us to work upstream and ultimately prevent domestic violence. We do this through our youth education programs and our She Is Your Neighbour podcast and awareness series.
We often say that we are more than shelter and it is through the support of our community that we may offer these unique, creative programs.
