We lost our light on Sunday, August 12, 2018 following a tragic accident at Port Burwell; our sweet CJ at the age of 24. On behalf of CJ, we have created the CJ Moore Memorial Phoenix Fund, to support organizations in our community who so desperately need our help. In CJ’s name, we would love to be able to support organizations who help others less fortunate than ourselves.

CJ Moore was born on January 27, 1994 and from the instant he took his first breath he brought a special light into the world. Everyone who met CJ was brightened by his infectious laughter and smile. Although CJ meant different things to different people, all who met him loved him. He was a teacher, a counselor, a diver, and a musician. He was a student, a confidant, a protector, and a loved one. Most of all, no matter who you were, CJ was a friend. In the many stories shared about him, a common theme is clear. CJ was a kind, humble, compassionate man who was mature and wise beyond his years.

CJ loved life and was never afraid to try anything. He played baseball and the violin. He loved the piano and performing, whether it be on stage or to a small group of friends. He swam from the age of 3 months, and then when he found the diving boards there was no holding him back. He learned to soar. CJ was steadfast in his goal - to become an Olympian as a diver. He held many provincial medals and records, he competed in many international meets, but his greatest athletic achievement was being one of the first in Canada to compete a front four and a half off the 10 meter tower.

Academically, CJ excelled. In high school he was awarded highest marks in French, Vocals, and Chemistry. One of his classmates wrote the following about him “(CJ) You miss 80 percent of school and yet still manage to scrape by life with a 90+ average”.

CJ was a fourth-year Biomedical Engineering student and his ultimate goal was to become a teacher. CJ holds the distinction of being the first ever graduate of the University of Waterloo Biomedical Engineering program, having been awarded his degree posthumously, in the fall of 2018.

CJ was taken from us far too soon, on August 12, 2018. He lives on in the hearts and souls of those who were lucky enough to have met him in this life.
