Community Services Recovery Fund

Waterloo Region Community Foundation takes part in the Community Services Recovery Fund – a $400 Million investment in charities and non-profits.

Now more than ever, charities and non-profits are playing a key role in addressing persistent and complex social problems faced by all Canadians. The Community Services Recovery Fund is a $400 million investment from the Government of Canada to support charities and non-profits as they focus on how to adapt their organizations for pandemic recovery.

Waterloo Region Community Foundation (WRCF) is proud to be working with community foundations across Canada as part of the Community Services Recovery Fund. This fund is a collaboration between Canadian Red Cross, Community Foundations of Canada, and United Way Centraide Canada to provide funding to Community Service Organizations including non-profit organizations, Indigenous Governing Bodies and Registered Charities located in Canada. The purpose of the Community Services Recovery Fund (CSRF) is to strengthen internal capacity of Community Service Organizations facing immediate and long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Locally, we are partnering with United Way Waterloo Region Communities (UWWRC), and the Red Cross to assist organizations across Waterloo Region. Each partner is leading the distribution of funding in one of the three project focus areas:

  1. Investing in Systems and Processes (WRCF)

  2. Investing in Program and Service Innovation and Redesign (UWWRC)

  3. Investing in People (Red Cross)

Together, WRCF and UWWRC have approximately $2.8 Million to distribute with additional funding available through Red Cross. Read our press release.
